Greenstand's services

This section explains Greenstand's service offerings, including the Treetracker platform.

Essential Terminology

Treetracker app: a mobile application with which tree growers can snap geotagged photos of the trees they care for and upload them to the cloud for verification & compensation

Web Map: found on our website, the Web Map holds all of the trees that have been verified by the Greenstand team

Impact Token: when tree photos are verified by the Greenstand team, the tree’s environmental services are valued and digitized into Impact Tokens, which can be traded with other Treetracker users

Impact Wallet: the digital container where a Treetracker user’s Impact Tokens are stored

Admin Panel: organizations employing multiple Treetracker users may use the Admin Panel to keep track of tree growth, environmental impacts, and planter compensation

Tree Value Matrix: defines the payment in terms of ecological and social impact value. Higher value trees are intended to support higher payments to growers. This component is conceptually designed, but not technically deployed at this time. Anticipated release for spring 2022.

Programs

Our Treetracker app allows farmers to receive payment once a tree has been planted and verified via photo and GPS tagging; as the tree continues to grow and monitoring updates are provided, the farmer can continue to earn income. The Impact Wallet-Token system allows digitized environmental impacts to be traded among organizations and obtain funding that can be used to pay farmers. By providing a marketplace to generate sustainable project funding and income for these farmers, Greenstand seeks to reduce the need for destructive practices, such as burning trees for charcoal. Prior to the implementation of the Treetracker platform, these environmentally harmful activities have often been necessary to put food on the table. This is how Greenstand addresses poverty and climate change through better tree planting technology.

Services

Planting organizations and local initiatives seek to use the Treetracker to improve effectiveness of their efforts and to obtain ongoing project funding. Phones with the Treetracker application pre-installed are provided to farmers on the ground anywhere that reforestation efforts are taking place; this includes calling credits or data packages if required. Applications are designed to transfer data primarily in the form of photos and GPS tagging to account for low adult literacy rates and the many indigenous languages used across the countries served. Additionally, the app has been designed to function offline in order to support the most rural and disadvantaged communities residing in edge network regions. Training is provided for all new Treetrackers and disseminated further by local Village Champions.
